I have a little extra time, so I'm going to write a Blogging 101 to help others with their skills in blogging -- or lack of said skill.
- Post every day. (It gets boring when you keep checking other blogs and find no new posts...Or if you can't post every day, then make sure you post 5 days out of the week.)
- Don't choose pastel colors for your type. (Or for that matter, don't choose any pastel colors.)
- Post with pictures as often as possible. (Don't post about an item you made with no pics; that's no good!)
- Ask questions! (If nobody asks questions about others, there's nothing to talk about.)
- Answer questions! (Don't just leave others hanging!)
- Give your opinion, (even if you're brutally honest.)
- Use some humor in your posts and comments -- (even if you're not good at it.)
- Fill out your "About" page. (We all want to see what you're interested in.)
- Get a blogger template and stick with it. (I can understand changing every couple of weeks or so, but changing every day gets a little bit confusing.)
- Post about anything. (Referring to #1. Post about anything! If it's what TV channel you're watching, we want to hear about it. Anything that's usually normal in your life is a lot of times great to other people.)
- Throw in "extras" on your blog. (Polls, pictures, anything! We want things to do and look at on your blog.)
- Have worthwhile content. (It may be a little disappointing to readers when you just post with a link or a couple of sentences.)
- Use links with your writing. (Good job Mary!)
- Create "How To's" on your blog. (Again, great job Mary!)
- Spell-check (Make sure that your posts don't have too many mistakes.)
Hope this helped some. I do realize I'm not the best at some of these things. Don't take it that way.... Happy posting, sourpatch.
