Blogging 101

I have a little extra time, so I'm going to write a Blogging 101 to help others with their skills in blogging -- or lack of said skill.

  1. Post every day. (It gets boring when you keep checking other blogs and find no new posts...Or if you can't post every day, then make sure you post 5 days out of the week.)
  2. Don't choose pastel colors for your type. (Or for that matter, don't choose any pastel colors.)
  3. Post with pictures as often as possible. (Don't post about an item you made with no pics; that's no good!)
  4. Ask questions! (If nobody asks questions about others, there's nothing to talk about.)
  5. Answer questions! (Don't just leave others hanging!)
  6. Give your opinion, (even if you're brutally honest.)
  7. Use some humor in your posts and comments -- (even if you're not good at it.)
  8. Fill out your "About" page. (We all want to see what you're interested in.)
  9. Get a blogger template and stick with it. (I can understand changing every couple of weeks or so, but changing every day gets a little bit confusing.)
  10. Post about anything. (Referring to #1. Post about anything! If it's what TV channel you're watching, we want to hear about it. Anything that's usually normal in your life is a lot of times great to other people.)
  11. Throw in "extras" on your blog. (Polls, pictures, anything! We want things to do and look at on your blog.)
  12. Have worthwhile content. (It may be a little disappointing to readers when you just post with a link or a couple of sentences.)
  13. Use links with your writing. (Good job Mary!)
  14. Create "How To's" on your blog. (Again, great job Mary!)
  15. Spell-check (Make sure that your posts don't have too many mistakes.)

Hope this helped some. I do realize I'm not the best at some of these things. Don't take it that way.... Happy posting, sourpatch.
